The Airlift Berlin Memorial is part of the “Collection of Military History” of the German Air Force School of Engineering 3 (“Technische Schule der Luftwaffe” - TSLw 3).
TSLw 3 is enjoying the support of the “Förderverein für die Erinnerungsstätte Luftbrücke Berlin e.V.” (Sponsoring Association for the Airlift Memorial Berlin e.V.) as well as the „Stiftung Luftbrückendank“ (Airlift Foundation), an organization of the federal state of Berlin.
The methodical-didactic orientation of the Collection aims at representing the socio-political responsibility of the armed forces as well as providing in-depth information on the Bundeswehr at Faßberg Base in addition to the Berlin Airlift and its effects on Faßberg and Berlin. The exhibition is documenting the achievements of the U.S. Air Force and Royal Air Force in Faßberg and their cooperation with the German workers of the German Civil Labour Organization responsible for the loading of coal.
Moreover, the paedagogical orientation of the museum is backing the political and historical education and advanced training of the members of TSLw 3 courses as well as soldiers in active military service and staff members at Faßberg Base.
Besides, it is providing part of the information for guests and visitors of the Airbase and military base in connection with public relations work as well as recruitment and reserve officers activities.
